My Placement Blog

Final Blog Post

This year at university, I believe placement has been a very helpful aspect for me personally, advancing my knowledge of coaching theories and gaining experience of the practicalities of teaching a primary school class.

I believe that it has enhanced my skills that would be needed for future employment. To complete placement, we have had to plan and reflect regularly; when going into any working environment, planning is an essential skill needed to succeed and I feel that with this experience, I will now be able to go into any environment and put aside time to plan and reflect to help me improve.

Also, the experience it has given me is a huge factor in future employability; Workplaces will often look at past experience, and with placement, I have shown that I have experience of leading a group of school children with minimal supervision, and have that leadership quality when it comes to working within a group.

I believe the reason why placement was successful this year was due to keeping on top of the reflections throughout. In doing so, i was reading more articles based around coaching theory, and I think this helped me improve as a coach every week; because of this, I have set myself a target for level 6. My goal is to read 2 articles every week that revolve around the coaching practice planning and reflective framework to improve my knowledge, and in turn, improve my overall coaching.
