Placement Description

The placement I am currently involved in is based at Meanwood Primary School in the North West of Leeds. Meanwood suburb is gaining reputation as a great place to live with an increase in shops, takeaways, cafes and bars opening to provide the community places to socialise or shop.

Meanwood is also a great place for people to live who want to commute into the city for work with a short bus journey into town. With neighbouring suburbs being Headingley and Chappel Allerton, they have plenty of places to chose to go to for work or socialising spaces.

Meanwood Primary School

The school that we will be working in has achieved gold standard in the last 4 years whilst they have been a part of the School Mark Scheme in Sporting Environment. This year they have achieved the platinum mark, awarded for showing consistently high levels of enthusiasm to school sports. The school is constantly trying to develop the sports that the children can take part in, and increasing competitions for the year.

As a group, two other students and I are working with the Year 4 group; This means the age range is between 8 and 9. The role that I will be taking on will be observing PE lessons before taking on leadership roles within the sessions. On top of this, I will be observing some classroom activities to gain a greater understanding of what the role of a Primary school teacher entails.
